January 4th, 2022 UPDATE

Republic fulfilled its obligation to us, starting at 7:20AM. While I was please that we were FIRST on the list in our immediate area, “The Perfect Storm” excuse can only take us so far, but this is where we are in 2022.
It’s important to consider alternatives and options, sadly, there aren’t many for what we, as a community, are accustomed to. The fact is, Republic Services is a national company that trades on the Stock Exchange. They are acquiring smaller independent haulers of waste, limiting our options. The hard truth comes when our former contract with Gold Medal expires and we see our new rates with a quickly monopolizing company.
If you Google, “commercial waste management” you will see a few that service our area, I have a quote request in from a few, including Waste Management and RTS.
Companies like Tri-State Waste are dumpster services and I am almost 100% sure that our neighbors would not be in favor of walking trash to an unsightly dumpster.
So I ask for your patience and I beg that you keep all factors in mind. I, and The Board will work to find the best service for us and if we need to pay more, we will present options for creative solutions. 2020 and 2021 has taught us that we’re survivors and that we can get it done.
If you have suggestions or ideas- please use the comment section below, open for members to share thoughts.
For now, let’s bask in the glow of a trash-free community.

3:20PM: A letter, outlining our problem, has been sent to City Councilwoman Cindy Bass and PA State Representative Chris Rabb. The Board is currently seeking bids for a new trash removal contractor.
1:54PM: Representative stated the case was elevated to a district manager and would put it through to dispatch. Operator advised that we are currently under a weather alert and we might not see pickup until tomorrow. I made sure to tell her that the surrounding complexes were getting serviced this morning.
8:14AM: Representative stated she would elevate the case to a district manager.
January 1st, 2022:
As our trash collection service is closed for the holiday weekend, it’s my unfortunate duty to inform the community that our trash will remain in the parking lot until at least Monday. I will be contacting the contractor first thing Monday if Philly Living is unavailable. Until then- I’m searching for alternative methods of removal but have been unsuccessful.

Hello Neighbors,
As you can see by looking out your window, as of 7:30PM New Years Eve Night, our trash remains.
After a “service disruption” yesterday, I was assured by a representative at Republic (Gold Medal Environmental has been purchased along with our contract) that our trash would be picked up today. This was at 9:45AM.
Shortly before 2PM, I attempted one more call but the call center closed.
The Executive Board is working on getting this resolved and feel it’s unacceptable, considering the surrounding complexes use Republic and had trucks removing refuse throughout the day. The day is technically not over yet, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
I will update this post as information comes in.
Thank you for your attention and I apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.
